Announcement: CMD 2020 go to virtual.

Due to a Covid virus situation, I hope you and your family stay healthy and safe.
As the conference date of CMD 2020 draws near, the impact of Covid 19 appears to be unabated and is likely to continue in the foreseeable future. Therefore, the local committee has decided to change the format of CMD 2020 to be held online (virtual presentation) during 25-28 October 2020 at Electrical Engineering Dept., Faculty of Engineering,  King Mongkut Institute of Technology (KMITL), Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand. Accordingly, the paper registration fee will be discounted by approximately 50% from the original fee of 750USD (regular) and 650USD (IEEE/ECTI member). The exact registration fee is now being discussed by the local and international steering committees and will be officially announced in the CMD 2020 website later.

To participate in the virtual presentation and have the paper included in the conference proceeding, the authors must pay the registration fee for each paper. The authors can choose to make a presentation online in real-time or to send a video clip of their presentation. In the latter case, the presentation video file will be uploaded to the CMD server before the conference date. On the conference date, the CMD 2020 host will set up the presentation rooms at Electrical Engineering Dept.,KMITL. The real-time online presentations and the prior uploaded presentation videos will be broadcasted following the presentation schedule. The number of local participants, e.g., professors, students, and interested parties, will be limited according to the guidelines from the ministry of public health, Thailand.

I am aware that some participants may feel frustrated by missing the beautiful places of Phuket, the atmosphere of making a new friendship, the opportunity of academic discussion face to face, and so on. However, we cannot predict the COVID-19 situation and its consequences. Therefore, the virtual CMD 2020 should be the best way forward to keep the conference on schedule.

Congratulation again for your abstract having been accepted for CMD 2020. I hope you are now preparing to submit the full paper. I am looking forward to your continued support for CMD 2020. If you have some suggestions or questions, please let us know.

Sincerely yours,

Norasage Pattanadech
Chairman of CMD 2020

King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
